“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.
I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid”
John 14:27

What is Peace??
The common definition includes such thoughts as a harmony in personal
relationships, without conflict, the absence of hostility, safety, security,
tranquility and freedom from civil disorder. In many countries it is also a
greeting or farewell.
God’s peace, the third attribute in the “Fruit of the Spirit,” is a little different
– it is a perfect peace. From the Greek eirēnē, it has the additional meaning of
the internal tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ and
so fearing nothing from God plus having contentment with our earthly lot. As
part of our inheritance and the result of submission to the will of God, we have
a peace of mind which does not depend on the conditions around us, but the
indwelling Spirit in our heart. Our whole attitude is safe, secure and free from
fear. It is God’s gift that flows into us, then through us into all the world.
Shalom
