“Let love and faithfulness never leave you;
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.”
Proverbs 3:3
bind them around your neck,
write them on the tablet of your heart.”
Proverbs 3:3
Faithfulness, the seventh attribute in the “Fruit of the Spirit” comes from the Greek pistis and is marked by showing a strong sense of duty or responsibility that requires complete trust in God. It implies a loyalty or devotion to one’s purpose as not to be turned aside by any cause but pursued with personal resolve. So what are some marks of faithfulness in a Christian’s life:
Character
- Integrity
- Devotion to others and to Christ
- Keeping our promises
Obedience
- Imitating Christ as our model
- Committing our lives to doing God’s will
- Trusting God
Service
- Seeking good for others and glory for God
- Using our God-given gifts, abilities and opportunities
- Fulfilling our general and specific God-given responsibilities
When we rely on God’s strength, pray for help, put aside our own selfish desires and allow the Holy Spirit to work in our lives then our faithfulness will produce blessings to others, peace and personal satisfaction plus we will be entrusted with greater responsibilities.
