IDENTITY: REDEEMED & FORGIVEN

For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness
and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,
in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”
Colossians 1:13-14
In Christ, followers are redeemed and forgiven, so God sees us as set free
from captivity or slavery to sin and evil.  The death and resurrection of Christ
is the means of redemption and provides not only forgiveness of sin, but
spiritual transformation.  God knows us completely – loves us as if we already
have reached His promised perfection in Christ, even though it will not be
complete until Christ returns.

God intends for us to live filled with the knowledge of His will, worthy of the
Lord and pleasing to Him in every way, bearing fruit in every good work,
growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with His power and
giving joyful thanks to the Father. (Col 1:9-12)
