“I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.
I will glory in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together.”
Psalm 34:1-3
Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together.”
Psalm 34:1-3
In Psalm 34, David expresses his gratitude to the Lord for deliverance, blessing
and protection. All of these are part of God’s goodness which includes both
giving and forgiving. God is not only good in general, but He is good to us. It
is part of His character to be benevolent, compassionate and patient. His
goodness is a moral quality that is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit that springs
from the inner person once we trust in Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Goodness
involves right behavior, resistance of evil and choosing to follow all moral good.
Gratitude in Psalm 34 is continual, at all times, in every circumstance. It is never
unseasonable to bless the Lord with gratitude. It cannot be known or expressed
except by personal experience, but we are invited to also express it together.
