But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” James 3:13-17
The third characteristic of divine wisdom in James 3:13-17 is considerate or gentle. It is hard to find an English word to describe this quality, but is the ability to extend to others the consideration we wish to receive. The wisdom of God makes people mild, yielding and humane so they readily forgive and cover others with love, putting the best slant on the actions of others. Such qualities as equitable, fair, reasonable and forbearing. This wisdom believes and stands for the truth, but takes the time to listen and understand with patience, reason and fairness.
