“Among the gods there is none like you, Lord;
no deeds can compare with yours.
All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, Lord;
they will bring glory to your name.
For you are great and do marvelous deeds; you alone are God.”
Psalm 86:8-10

Psalm 86:8-10
Psalm 86 is filled with David’s adoration, gratitude and petition emphasizing not
only God’s attributes, but also His incomparable works. God is able as well as
willing to help and His works are unique. God is great and His deeds are great -
there is none like Him, He alone is God.
Believers are expected to abound in good deeds which show their faith to be real
and vital. Deeds are an expression of gratitude in the believer’s heart. God is
never done blessing us, so let’s never be done blessing Him.

In addition to gratitude for God’s deeds, Psalm 86 contains the following 10 safeguards from sin
(past sermon notes in my Bible) along with the reassurance of His love (v.13):
- Remember our poverty without God (v.1)
- Be honest with our needs (v.1)
- Guard against potential areas of sin (v.2)
- Be acquainted with God’s mercy (v.3)
- Seek joy from the Lord (v.4)
- Accept forgiveness (v.5)
- Call upon God at the 1st sign of trouble (v.7)
- Walk in the truth (v.11)
- Give priority to God (v.11)
- Have a balanced perspective toward God (v.11)
