WISDOM

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God,
who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
  James 1:5

2020 - the beginning of a new decade - is a great year to find perfect vision of wisdom!  Wisdom is a blessing granted by God to understand how life works and how to honor Him and is acquired in faith and through His word.  It is critical for making proper decisions and living godly, moral lives. Wisdom from above is “first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere” (James 3:17-18).  God offers this wisdom to the one who seeks it.

There are five types of wisdom.  Practical wisdom refers to getting things done like making a goal a reality rather than just talking about it.  Intellectual wisdom includes acquiring information, distinguishing truth from falsehood, determining what is important and putting that knowledge to work.  Moral wisdom is the ability to live life based on God’s standard. Discerning wisdom is the ability to comprehend and understand what is obscure. Finally, directional wisdom is developed with spiritual maturity and dependence on God to make decisions that bring glory to Him.

Join me as we journey first through Proverbs, the Old Testament book of wisdom, then James, the New Testament book of wisdom, in the weeks ahead in search of God's wisdom!
