“My son, keep your father’s command and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.
Bind them always on your heart; fasten them around your neck.
When you walk, they will guide you;
when you sleep, they will watch over you;
when you awake, they will speak to you.”
Proverbs 6:20-22

In Proverbs 6, Solomon reveals that God’s word teaches and guides us in life.
He addresses every-day situations that require God’s wisdom and guidance
along with the exhortation to know the word of God and be familiar with its
application in every area of our lives - relationships, work, financial decisions,
etc. We have to really know it, to use it.
Proverbs 6:20-23 is an exhortation to adhere to the word of God - His law and
His commandment. When God’s word is kept in our heart, it is not forgotten
and becomes part of who we are in Christ. It constantly reminds us to humble
ourselves, observe and obey throughout the course of our daily lives. It will be
our guide, our guard and our companion.
