“My son, pay attention to my wisdom, turn your ear to my words of insight,
that you may maintain discretion and your lips may preserve knowledge.”
Proverbs 5:1-2
that you may maintain discretion and your lips may preserve knowledge.”
Proverbs 5:1-2
In Proverbs 5, Solomon encourages submission to and satisfaction with wisdom.
Solomon thus far in Proverbs has been exhorting believers to pursue wisdom
and flee from folly in various ways. Here is an exhortation to get acquainted with
and submit to the laws of wisdom in general with particular caution to sexual
enticement.
Proverbs 5:1-2 indicates that every disciple of Christ, should carefully and
diligently listen to God’s wise counsel, not the wisdom of the world. Pay attention,
spiritual and evangelical wisdom helps guide our thoughts and actions, so we have
discernment and proper discrimination for daily living. Knowledge will be
preserved and used to keep us from false doctrine and immorality, plus believers
will be able to speak wisely, expressing what we have learned to help others.
Remember God’s is omniscient - everything is in full view of the Lord.
