“The wise store up choice food and olive oil,
but fools gulp theirs down.”
Proverbs 21:20
but fools gulp theirs down.”
Proverbs 21:20
In Proverbs 21, Solomon reflects on the treasures of the wise and the pursuit of
righteousness. The believer who pursues righteousness finds life, prosperity and
honor plus doing right is more acceptable than sacrifice. We need to practice
mercy and justice and remember that no plans can stand against or hinder the
Lord, no matter how wise or well-advised.
In Proverbs 21:20, Solomon indicates that a wise person lives a life blessed by God, sometimes resulting in wealth and luxury due to prudence, industry and frugality but always growing rich in spiritual things. The wise store up desired treasures of wisdom and divine influence for future use. They increase what they have rather than spending whatever they earn because wisdom teaches them how to use their resources.
