“Like apples of gold in settings of silver is a ruling rightly given.
Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is the rebuke of a wise judge to a listening ear.”
Proverbs 25:11-12
Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is the rebuke of a wise judge to a listening ear.”
Proverbs 25:11-12
Proverbs 25 is a collection of Solomon’s proverbs compiled by men of Hezekiah.
They include observations about kings, neighbors and enemies plus the necessity
of moderation and self-government. They also include several comparisons,
such as the ones found in Proverbs 25:11-12.
This comparison teaches that the right time enhances the attractiveness of truth.
The right words at the right time are sure to be acceptable and effective, plus
have power to heal, strengthen and guide. Wisdom has a pleasing effect and
appears to be without design, though relative and is as grateful to the taste as
real apples or as attractive as a custom made piece of jewelry. Jesus Christ gives
believers true wisdom which enables us to be considerate, bearing with the
failings of some, overlooking the weaknesses of others and having a good word
spoken in the right spirit for everyone.
