IDENTITY: ROOTED

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, 
continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, 
strengthened in the faith as you were taught, 
and overflowing with thankfulness.
See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, 
which depends on human tradition 
and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.”
Colossians 2:6-8

In Christ, followers are rooted in the faith.  God sees us strengthened by walking closely with Christ – the more we walk with Him, the more we are grounded in our faith.  We walk in His Spirit, under His influence, by His direction and through His assistance and derive all our nourishment and strength from Him as our root.

God intends for us to continue to live by faith with thanksgiving, always looking

to Him, leaning on Him and deriving grace from Him.  Followers are to guard

against being deceived and ensnared by the world, especially by hollow and

deceptive philosophy.  It depends on the wisdom and traditions of man rather

than of God, with no solid foundation and robs us of our rich treasure in the

wisdom and knowledge of Christ.
