“The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways,
but the folly of fools is deception.”
Proverbs 14:8
but the folly of fools is deception.”
Proverbs 14:8
In Proverbs 14, Solomon shows the contrast between the wise vs fools,
righteousness vs wickedness, wealth vs poverty and the different effects of
each. Wise believers are those who give thought to their steps, fear the
Lord, help the needy and work hard. Wisdom possesses the heart of those
who have understanding and is communicated to others at the proper time,
in the proper place, and to the people who need it. Who we are is eventually
evident in what we do.
In Proverbs 14:8, the wise are characterized as managing themselves well
by the practical use of wisdom to consider their path. They understand
God’s directions and observe them. They see dangers and avoid them.
They see difficulties and rely on God to get them through. They see the
advantages of following God’s design and do things His way. Wise believers
consider where their actions lead, the motives from which they spring, and
the results.
